The Connected University: Driving Recovery and Growth in the Scottish Economy
Chair: Graeme Downie (Communications Manager, Scotland and Northern Ireland, NESTA)
Panellists: Fiona Hyslop MSP (Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning), Professor Anton Muscatelli (Universities Scotland), Campbell Grant (Managing Director, Sitekit Solutions Ltd)
Description: Improved connections between Scotland’s universities, businesses and local government could unlock future economic growth. A new model of a “Connected University” could harness a range of collaborations to be at the heart of economic growth, supporting the development of regional ‘clusters’ of excellence. These universities should take centre stage in a new look UK economy, driving the development of high-tech growth sectors as is already happening in Scottish cities like Dundee with their highly successful biotechnology cluster. Join us as we explore how this could work in other parts of Scotland.
